June 3, 2024 2024 has been an amazing and busy year already. Let's start with my performing: I've been very grateful to perform in so many local events this year with the Cheyenne Chamber Singers. With this wonderful ensemble, I had the pleasure of singing solos with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra in March and in the Craig Hella Johnson oratorio, Considering Matthew Shepard in early June. This was my first season with CCS and I have loved it. Great people, great voices, great music!
I also got to spend the month of April in one of my favorite cities, Billings, MT. While I was there, I performed the title role of Cinderella with Rimrock Opera and participated in Operafest. Cinderella was more fun than I could have ever expected and I loved singing with friends both old and new.
If you are wondering "What's next?", my focus is about to shift towards music directing! I am so excited to be working on The Hunchback of Notre Dame with Theatre West in Scottsbluff, NE this summer! I'm not sure I can think of a better musical theatre score than this one and I can't wait to get started in a few weeks. I was also asked to be the music director for Sondhiem on Sondhiem with the Cheyenne Little Theatre in early 2025. While this production will come at a very busy time, the music will be well worth it on this one! Spring 2025 will also bring a performance of Carmina Burana with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra and the LCCC choirs will be participating!
On the performance side of things, I have several LCCC events coming up that I am looking forward too. I have some really exciting collaborations planned for the Faculty Recital in September. Expect a duet or two, along with a contemporary aria from Little Women! I'll be a soloist with the Wind Ensemble in December and I'm already anxious to get to work on this music! I'm also really excited to start working on some chamber music for voice and trombone in the Spring!
